1. Terms of Use

What Iqota is

Iqota (iqota.com.ng) is a free, community-reported power status platform covering Lagos. Residents tap "Light Dey" or "Light No Dey" to report the power status of their street or area, and everyone sees the aggregated, real-time picture. Iqota also hosts a directory of local businesses and, separately, an Entertainment section for artists and events companies.

No account required

Iqota does not require sign-up, login, or a password to report a status or browse zones. The only time we ask for a phone number is if you choose to join the Lekki/Lagos Power Challenge, which is entirely optional.

About the data you see

Every status shown on Iqota is self-reported by residents — it is not official data from any electricity distribution company (DISCO), and Iqota is not affiliated with any DISCO. We aggregate what the community reports and show it as-is, with a timestamp so you can judge how current it is. Reports older than a few hours are treated as stale rather than shown as confidently "current."

Acceptable use

When using Iqota, you agree not to:

We reserve the right to remove reports, listings, or access that violate these terms.

Business & Entertainment listings

Businesses and artists may list on Iqota under paid tiers (Basic or Gold Sponsor) as described on our site. By submitting a listing, you confirm the information, images, and video you provide are accurate and that you have the right to share them (including any social media handles you connect). Listings are subject to review and may be declined or removed at Iqota's discretion, including for inaccurate, misleading, or inappropriate content. Fees paid for listings are generally non-refundable once a listing has gone live, except where required by law or agreed separately in writing.

No guarantee of results

Iqota does not guarantee any specific level of visibility, engagement, or business outcome from a listing.

Limitation of liability

Iqota is provided "as is." Since status data is community-reported, we cannot guarantee its accuracy at any given moment. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Iqota and Meridian Threshold Ltd are not liable for any loss or damage arising from reliance on information shown in the app.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Iqota grows. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.

2. Privacy Policy

What we collect

What we don't collect

We do not require your name, email, or any account credentials to use the core app. We do not track you across other websites.

How we use data

Report data is aggregated to show live community status per zone, and may be used in anonymized, aggregate form (e.g. "82% of reports this month were 'Light Dey'") for features like zone reliability information, or shared in aggregate with partners — never in a way that identifies an individual reporter.

Where data is stored

Iqota's data is stored using Supabase, a third-party database provider. We take reasonable steps to keep this data secure but cannot guarantee absolute security of any online system.

Your rights

If you registered for the Power Challenge and want your phone number removed from our records, or you're a business/artist who wants a listing taken down, contact us using the details below and we'll act on it.

Children's privacy

Iqota is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent version.
